St. Vincent Eye Surgery Medical Center, is seeking a motivated Medical Assistant to join our team. St. Vincent Eye Surgery Medical Center is a fast paced ASC environment committed to producing the highest quality work and experience for patients and their families. 

Please note that the starting pay range for this position is between $18.00 to $20.00 per hour.

Under the direction of the Administrator, the physician, and RN, the Medical Assistant (MA) provides assistance with a variety of activities involving patient care and environmental cleaning in the pre-op/post-op areas. Essential duties and responsibilities include:

  • Under the direction of the RN, aids in explaining the procedure to patients, assists in psychologically preparing patients for procedures, and communicates effectively with patients, families, visitors, and healthcare professionals.
  • Accesses patient health information in the clinical EHR and accurately enters it into the Center’s electronic health record, as applicable.
  • Assists patients in all areas of care and mobility.
  • Assists in all rescue and/or resuscitative efforts as deemed necessary and directed by attending physician, anesthesia provider, and/or Center Manager.
  • Obtains and records vital signs; reports any abnormalities immediately to RN.
  • Under direction of the RN, performs blood glucose testing per physician’s order.
  • Ensures accurate documentation of care in the medical record.
  • Maintains a clean work environment by cleaning reusable equipment, according to policy and procedure and manufacturer’s guidelines, within the pre-op and post-op bay areas.

Required Skills:
  • Must be competent in the use of basic office equipment including computer, printer, telephone, and fax.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and remain poised and professional when interacting with potentially hostile patients and family members.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with physicians and all medical professionals.
  • Current certification in BLS.

Required Experience:
  • High school education or equivalent, Medical Assistant.
  • Previous experience in a customer service or clinical setting.
