Billing Specialist
Moline, Illinois RSC Illinois, LLC (15053)The Billing Specialist is responsible for performing all billing and collection-related duties on patient accounts. This role involves ensuring accurate coding, preparing and processing billing, and managing collections. The Billing Specialist is expected to have a thorough understanding of managed care contracts as they pertain to billing and reimbursement.
Please note the starting pay for this positions is $18.00 per hour. and this position will operate from Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Identifies procedures and principal diagnosis performed on each patient and properly codes each procedure.
- Proficient in preparing batches for dates of service, posting, balancing, and closing for the day.
- Assembles medical charts upon completion, reviews each chart for completeness, and obtains missing signatures or documents in a timely manner.
- Prepares charts for doctor’s signatures, maintains medical record files, and ensures confidentiality.
- Obtains and files reports generated by outside vendors.
- Submits charges on patient accounts to the correct payer based on verified insurance information and performs re-bills as needed.
- Maintains implant tracking log and charges for implants or supplies not included in procedure fees.
- Updates and maintains master copy of all current forms used at the Center.
- Updates charge master for new or deleted procedure or diagnosis codes.
- Mails infection control surveys to surgeons, tracks statistics, and prepares reports for committees as required.
- Knowledgeable about current coding conventions and applicable state and federal laws related to billing, coding, and consents.
- Provides backup support for Accounts Receivable as needed.
- Effectively manages incoming calls in a professional manner and routes them appropriately.
