Infection Prevention/Quality RNs are an integral part of the surgical team, providing essential nursing care to patients during surgical cases. Their role requires a high level of accuracy and professionalism in a fast-paced surgical environment. Infection Prevention/Quality RNs are responsible for ensuring that patients receive the highest standard of care during surgery. Their ability to maintain a professional approach while providing nursing care is critical in ensuring positive patient outcomes while keeping patients and their families informed. Will work directly with surgeons, medical/surgical staff and post-acute caregivers to create comprehensive patient care from pre- to post-op. Infection Prevention/Quality RN at Saint Thomas Hospital for Specialty Surgery
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for maintenance and organization of Infection Prevention activities and data collection.
- Actively supports staff education across Infection Prevention and Quality Improvement.
- Participates in activities of performance improvement investigation and follow-up by educating staff on findings.
- Responsible for assisting in writing policy and procedure related to updated standards with The Joint Commission, also to provide education to the staff after the approval of such policies.
- Supports evaluation of quality of care and patient outcomes as assigned
- Collects, prepares and analyzes healthcare-associated infection data
- Collaborates with director on presentation of infection data and makes data and research supported recommendations for actions
- Monitors employee compliance in use of barriers and infection prevention measures
- Prepares and presents educational offerings for the staff
- Supports departmental rounding to support facility excellence
- Serves as a resource to all departments and personnel for quality improvement in all areas
- Implements programs to protect the healthcare workers, visitors, and others in the healthcare environment
- Sets and recommends policies and procedures to prevent adverse events
- Provides internal and external reporting of information and data
- Promotes compliance with regulations, guidelines, and accreditation requirements.
- Supports orientation education as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned.

Required Experience:
- A minimum of two years of progressive clinical experience in an acute facility preferred.
- A minimum of two years experience in Quality Management and/or infection control preferred.
- A minimum of one-year experience with internal and external data management systems.
- Current license as a Registered Nurse or related healthcare field in the State of Tennessee.
- Knowledge of hospital organizations, committees, department functions, and performance improvement activities.
- Effective communication, organizational and leadership skills, independent decision-making, and ability to handle multiple projects.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Working knowledge of TJC, Medicare, and The State of Tennessee standards.
