Coordinate and participate in purchasing, receiving, storing, distributing, shipping, mailing, patient charges, and record-keeping activities to ensure adequate inventory for all patient care areas as well as office supplies and equipment.  Always works as a team member within the entire facility.  Responsible for transporting specimen, supplies, equipment, paperwork and all other materials deemed necessary between HPI facilities.  Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions:

  • Assumes responsibility for checking supply areas and re-stocking.
  • Orders supplies in a timely manner by running the reorder analysis or issuing POs for non-stock items.
  • Assumes responsibility for issuing Purchase Orders for implant cases.
  • Sticker’s patient chargeable items or verifies that all implants have charge codes for appropriate billing.
  • Accurately files POs and receivers.
  • Accurately receives inventory and special order items.  Verifies packing slip to PO and receives it in the computer system.
  • Transports assigned materials between destinations in a manner to expedient the continuous workflow of all hospital operations.
  • Cooperatively meets the needs of all requests made by the customers in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Understands the importance of proper handling and transport of all specimens and other materials under his/her direct care.
  • Maintains a daily log for all items received, delivered, or purchased by the Materials Management Tech.
  • Maintains orderly and safe environment. Checks work area and equipment to ensure safe and proper functioning. Follows reporting and maintenance procedures. Participates in disaster and fired drills. Performs in emergency situations in a safe and timely manner. Observes departmental policy and procedures to safe handling and storage of hazardous materials.
  • Satisfactorily demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties outlined in this job description as well as continually demonstrates competency in performing the job duties.

Qualifications: 

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Previous hospital experience and knowledge of medical supplies preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, and perform mathematical functions required.
