Overall Responsibility: 

The physical therapist will take a personal and direct approach to meeting an individual’s health goals, and returning patients to prior levels of function. The physical therapist will assist the patients’ to improve strength and mobility, relieve pain and prevent or limit permanent physical disabilities.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  1. Will work closely with the patient and other health care practitioners.
  2. Provide patient and family instruction and home programs to ensure that healing continues after direct patient care has ended.
  3. Maintain current and accurate records of patient evaluations and daily treatments
  4. Provide physicians and caseworkers with progress notes and other pertinent patient information in a timely manner.
  5. Maintain open lines of communications with physicians’ office regarding protocols and patient care.
  6. The physical therapist will be able to evaluate a patient’s
    • Joint motion
    • Muscle strength and endurance
    • Functional Ability
    • Muscle tone and reflexes
    • Appearance and stability of walking
    • Need and use of braces and artificial limbs
    • Function of the heart and lungs
    • Integrity of sensation and perception
    • Performance of activities required in daily living and development activities
  7. Physical therapy techniques may include, but are not limited to
    • Therapeutic exercise
    • Joint mobilization and range-of-motion exercises
    • Cardiovascular endurance training
    • Relaxation exercises
    • Therapeutic massage
    • Biofeedback
    • Training in activities of daily living
    • Wound debridement
    • Pulmonary physical therapy
    • Ambulation training.

Required Skills:

Job Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited physical therapy program
  • Maintains continuing education credits as required by the State
  • Current licensed in the State of Oklahoma
  • Current BLS, or receive certification within 90 days of hire
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Knowledgeable of current treatment protocols and rehabilitation equipment
  • Minimum Experience: 1 year preferred
