Your Role as a Pre-Testing RN

As a Pre-Testing Registered Nurse, you will play a vital role in preparing patients for their upcoming procedures. You will ensure all pre-admission testing is completed accurately and efficiently while maintaining a high level of patient care and safety.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct pre-surgical phone assessments with patients 7–10 days before their procedure.

  • Schedule in-person pre-admission testing if further evaluation is required.

  • Greet and escort patients to the pre-testing area upon arrival.

  • Verify and ensure accuracy of lab orders, EKGs, and CXRs per physician instructions.

  • Notify Anesthesia and/or Physicians of any abnormal test results and follow through with additional orders as needed.

  • Compile pre-testing results packets and scan documentation into Cerner.

  • Review and confirm next-day surgery schedules, ensuring all necessary test results are available.

  • Maintain positive and professional relationships with hospital staff, physicians, and clinic teams.

  • Utilize strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills to provide top-quality patient care.

Qualifications:

  • Active RN license in the state of Oklahoma.

  • BCLS certification (must be obtained within 90 days of hire if not current).

  • Degree or diploma from an accredited school of nursing.

  • Previous experience in a healthcare setting required; pre-testing nurse experience preferred.
