Your Role as a Pharmacist
As a Pharmacist at OCOM, you’ll oversee pharmacy technicians while ensuring top-tier customer service. Your expertise will guide medication management, patient counseling, and quality assurance in a fast-paced environment. You’ll collaborate with physicians, nurses, and hospital staff to provide safe and effective medication therapies.
Key Responsibilities:
✔️ Oversee the compounding, dispensing, packaging, and labeling of medications.
✔️ Review patient profiles and screen for drug interactions, allergies, and compliance.
✔️ Maintain accurate state & federal records, including controlled substances logs.
✔️ Provide drug information and consultation to physicians, nurses, and patients.
✔️ Verify prescriptions and ensure accurate dosing, storage, and distribution of medications.
✔️ Monitor medication inventory and manage ordering & returns.
✔️ Conduct quality assurance inspections for proper storage and expiration monitoring.
✔️ Participate in QA/PI activities and report findings to leadership.
✔️ Ensure compliance with hospital policies, safety protocols, and HIPAA regulations.
✔️ Maintain required logs for temperature, humidity, pressure, and cleaning schedules.
✔️ Stay updated with continuing education and meet licensure requirements.
What We’re Looking For
Licensure & Certification:
✔ Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy from an accredited program.
✔ Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy Licensure & Registration.
Experience & Skills:
✔ Minimum 3 years of experience as a pharmacist (hospital or commercial pharmacy).
✔ Strong knowledge of medication management, drug interactions, and compliance standards.
✔ Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
✔ Ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare setting.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Work Setting: Temperature-controlled environment within a hospital pharmacy.
⚕️ Physical Demands: Frequent standing, walking, crouching, and reaching.
⚠ Job Risks: Exposure to blood, chemicals, and infectious diseases.
Must Have: Strong cognitive skills for math, reading, and computer-based tasks.
