Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Director of Nursing uses clinical expertise, management skills and adult teaching/learning principles to assist in the implementation of administrative and clinical objectives to provide cost efficient, quality patient care in the postoperative setting. The Assistant Director of Nursing for Med Surg and ER serves as a role model and reference for professional practice and participates in the assessment, planning and implementation of age and cultural appropriate care according to patient population. The ADON assists in implementing policies, procedures, PI activities and program planning. The person in the position will maintain the standards of nursing care as established. The ADON always works as a team member within the entire facility. Performs other duties as assigned.

II.Essential Functions:

ØDemonstrates knowledge of current leadership, management, and quality improvement concepts and the ability to participate in developing and implementing strategies to improve the delivery of nursing care to patients.

ØDemonstrates knowledge in the provision and integration of patient care, meeting the requirements, rules, and regulations of licensing boards and regulatory and accrediting bodies.

ØDemonstrates exemplary interpersonal skills and conflict resolution to collaborate and problem-solve patient, family, staff, and physician issues.

ØDemonstrates the ability to evaluate daily operations and customer satisfaction and make recommendations for improvement.

ØAssists the DON in providing qualified nursing and other applicable ancillary clinical staff, interviewing possible employment candidates.

ØDemonstrates the ability to impartially evaluate competency of personnel within their scope of practice/job descriptions, documents, and refers employees to director as appropriate, participating in action plans & disciplinary actions when needed.

ØDemonstrates knowledge of Emergency Management System requirements set forth by regulatory agencies such as DNV and CMS.

ØParticipates in implementation of the hospital’s Emergency Management Plan.

ØSatisfactorily demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties outlined in this job description as well as continually demonstrates competency in performing the job duties.

ØSupervises:Med Surg and ER; RN’s, Paramedics and Patient Care Techs


Required Experience:

Qualifications:

ØRegistered Nurse License with the State of Oklahoma required.

ØPrefer Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing

ØThree years previous nursing management experience preferred.

ØTwo years experience in aMed Surg, Rehab, or ER preferred

ØBLS required within 30 days of hire. ACLS & PALS required within 120 days of hire. Basic Cardiac Dysrhythmia competency within 20 days of hire. Must remain current in AHA certifications throughout employment.
