Telemetry Tech Unit Secretary Full Time Nights
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma Community Hospital North (13531)Under the supervision of a registered nurse, the Unit Secretary performs a variety of clerical and receptionist activities for the unit and hospital Performs a variety of tasks including answering the phone, patient call system, cleaning of work areas, stocking, disposal of supply materials to ensure assigned areas are kept clean and adequately supplied. Always works as a team member within the entire facility. Performs other duties as assigned.
Essential Functions:
- Provides clerical and receptionist duties on unit including accurate order transcription, maintaining medical records according to HIPAA, completes admissions, discharges, and transfer processes.
- Ability to take direction from others and follow through in a concise manner, which also promotes efficiency.
- Ability to communicate using written, verbal, non-verbal skills when interacting with patients, families, staff and physicians and ancillary departments.
- Ability to set priorities.
- Acts to protect and advance patient’s best interest.
- Satisfactorily demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties outlined in this job description as well as continually demonstrates competency in performing the job duties.
Accountability:
- Reports to: RN, LPN, House supervisor, and Director of Nursing
- Supervises: none
Qualifications:
- High School graduate or equivalent required. Completion of a medical terminology class preferred.
- Six months experience as division secretary preferred, or trained as medical records or admitting clerk.
- Effectively reads, writes and speaks fluent English. Good communication skills, both orally and written, computer skills needed, ability to work with others as a team to ensure quality patient care. Strong problem solving skills, medical terminology.
- BLS healthcare required within 30 days of hire.
- For clinical departments where Dysrhythmia monitoring & interpretation is required: A Basic Dysrhythmia class is required within 30 days of hire, and a passing grade on the Basic Dysrhythmia competency exam after two attempts within two weeks of the class.

Environmental Conditions:
Level: High
- Some exposure to hazardous risks including potential for exposure to infections and communicable diseases, blood and body fluids, electrical equipment and chemicals. Must follow standard precautions. May be required to work weekends or flex schedules. Travel may be required. Exposed to weather conditions during travel.
