Preoperative PACU Charge Nurses are an integral part of the surgical team, providing essential nursing care to patients during surgical cases. Their role requires a high level of accuracy and professionalism in a fast-paced surgical environment. Preoperative PACU Charge Nurses are responsible for ensuring that patients receive the highest standard of care during surgery. Their ability to maintain a professional approach while providing nursing care is critical in ensuring positive patient outcomes while keeping patients and their families informed. Will work directly with surgeons, medical/surgical staff and post-acute caregivers to create comprehensive patient care from pre- to post-op. Mills Park Surgery Center is now seeking a Preoperative PACU Charge Nurse
Position Responsibilities:
- Supervises the Preop/PACU staff to provide a daily smooth flow of cases.
- Prepares monthly schedules.
- Prepare, coordinate and perform monthly staff meetings
- Communicate effectively with physicians to resolve issues and provide efficiency and smooth case flow.
- Assists with education by coordinating and/or giving in-services.
- Prepare schedules in the afternoon for next day.
- Communicate with vendors and representatives for supplies, equipment or instruments
- Works closely with Materials and Sterile Processing Dept to coordinate supplies & instrument needs.
- Preparing and administering annual evaluations
- Works closely with manager with hiring and orienting Preop/PACU staff members
- Helps in revising and preparing policies that relate to Preop/PACU functions
- Assistance in maintaining compliance for Joint Commission surveys
- Enters company data collections and observations with company EDGE
- MIDAS data entry.
- Enters data into Kronos time keeping program
- Assistance with staff counseling as necessary
- Coordinates and assists in Performance Improvement Projects.
Required Skills:
- Graduate of accredited school or professional nursing.
- Baccalaureate degree preferred or work related experience.
- Three (3) years experience in Preop/PACU
- One (1) year management experience
- Current Florida RN License
- BLS, ACLS and PALS required
- Independent decision making skills.
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects.
- Excellent communication skills with staff, physicians, patients, families and vendors.
