Palm Beach Surgical Suites is a busy, multispecialty ambulatory surgery center in Palm Beach Gardens, performing outpatient procedures in Orthopedics, Spine, Pain Management, Hand Surgery, Total Joints in Knee and Ankles. Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) at Palm Beach Surgical Suites
The Registered Nurse Circulator provides nursing care and service during surgery cases. The Circulating RN will be responsible for positioning the patient, prepping the patient, and circulating the case.
- Provides care within nursing standards of practice and the policies of the Center.
- Assess, plans, implements and evaluates care for all ages patients in the operating room.
- Makes decisions regarding direct patient care needs and communicates appropriate information to physicians, patients, family members, and personnel in other departments as well as team members.
- May have additional responsibilities as designated by the Clinical Director, which include, but are not limited to, serving on committees, participating in quality improvement audits and projects.
- Circulating nurses may ensure all patient paperwork is completed, such as consent forms.During the procedure, nurses may also document what takes place.
- They are a patient advocate in that they assure that safey procedures are being met.Circulating nurses may also replenish surgical supplies as needed during the procedure.After the procedure, they may verify instrument count and complete charting and other related duties.
- Being detailed oriented is also a needed skill for OR nurses.Small mistakes in the operating room can have a big impact on a patient’s condition.Nurses must also be able to handle several things at once.For instance, they may need to listen to the surgeon, monitor the patient and assist with the procedure at the same time.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited RN School of Nursing
- Active RN license in the state
- BLS, ACLS, or PALS as required by the center
- A minimum of 1 year experience working as a Circulator
- Ability to make decisions based on nursing judgment
