Overview
GI Tech PRNs are an integral part of the surgical team, providing essential nursing care to patients during surgical cases. Their role requires a high level of accuracy and professionalism in a fast-paced surgical environment. GI Tech PRNs are responsible for ensuring that patients receive the highest standard of care during surgery. Their ability to maintain a professional approach while providing nursing care is critical in ensuring positive patient outcomes while keeping patients and their families informed. Will work directly with surgeons, medical/surgical staff and post-acute caregivers to create comprehensive patient care from pre- to post-op. Responsibilities
USPI Crown Point Surgery Center, is seeking a motivated GI Tech PRN to join our team. Crown Point Surgery Center is a fast paced ASC environment committed to producing the highest quality work and experience for patients and their families.
NO call, weekends or holidays!!
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists in the care, maintenance, preparation and cleaning of equipment per manufacturer’s guidelines.
- Perform equipment safety checks to ensure equipment is functioning properly, per manufacturer’s guidelines.
- Provides assistance to nurses and physician during procedure per the nurses’ direction, including but not limited to collecting specimens.
- Maintains stocked rooms and recognizes the need for reordering supplies. Assists purchaser with reordering needed supplies.
- Transports and transfers patients and equipment using recommended body mechanics.
- Maintains files and documents in an organized system as needed.
- Responds to patients and their families promptly using demonstrated effective customer service skills.
- Seeks involvement in activities that promote professional growth and behavior.
- Follows OSHA and other standards for protection against blood borne pathogens.
- Uses good body mechanics and aseptic technique.
- Assists in the placement of patient monitors per the nurses directions (ie BP cuffs, pulse oximeter, EKG leads, etc.)
- Mentors new technicians and recommends changes to orientation as necessary.
- Assists with the maintenance of the physical environment of the Center.
- Responsible for communication with equipment repair as appropriate.
- Communicates with Charge Nurse regarding work flow.
- Maintains professionalism within the Center and community.
- Informs Charge Nurse of applicable day-to-day situations.
- Follows employee health and other personnel and staffing policies.
- Other duties as assigned.
$19-$24 / hour

Required Skills:
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Demonstrates hand eye coordination for manual dexterity required to handle various types of equipment, supplies, and instruments.
- Walking, bending, turning, and lifting agility required to physically move patients and equipment.
- Ability to maintain HIPPA standards and confidentiality.
- Works effectively with a variety of people.
- Adheres to State, CMS, and AAAHC requirements.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
- One year experience as a GI tech preferred.
USPI complies with federal, state, and/or local laws regarding mandatory vaccination of its workforce. If you are offered this position and must be vaccinated under any applicable law, you will be required to show proof of full vaccination or obtain an approval of a religious or medical exemption prior to your start date. If you receive an exemption from the vaccination requirement, you will be required to submit to regular testing in accordance with the law.
