USPI Arizona Specialty Hospital is Hiring a Materials Manager Full Time!

USPI Arizona Specialty Hospital is a specialty inpatient hospital which was established to set a new standard for excellence and patient satisfaction in the delivery of orthopedic and spinal surgery. Under general supervision of the Chief Financial Officer(CFO), the Materials Manager procures products and services in the most cost effective manner and in accordance with approved guidelines and polices.  This position maintains the overall receiving, stocking and distribution duties adhering to all requirements of Hospital and USPI Materials Management Policy and Procedure Manual.

  • Associates or Bachelors degree preferred. High school graduate and equivalent experience required.
  • Two years medical purchasing/buying experience.
  • Two years management experience
  • Knowledge of computer inventory management systems, various software programs and medical products.
  • Working knowledge of stocking and storing medical and non-medical supplies.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills (in English).
  • Must possess the ability to prioritize responsibilities and handle multiple projects simultaneously

Supervises:   Materials Techs, Buyers

Contracts/Interacts with: Vendors, Physicians, Corporate Office, Administration and Hospital Staff

Competencies and responsibilities associated with each position are a combination of hospital-wide and department specific standards. The department specific standards include the competencies appropriate to the ages of the customer served. The employee’s competencies are evaluated on an on-going basis, and formally documented at least annually as part of the Performance Appraisal process.

  1. Maintains adequate inventory levels by checking shelves and automated inventory system and establishes par levels for all supplies.
  2. Ensures utilization of USPI national agreements.
  3. Interfaces with appropriate departments to ensure proper placement, follow up and delivery of orders.
  4. Interacts with sales representatives resolving issues and problems related to supplies or the delivery of supplies.
  5. Establishes and maintains proper document flow and information updates for the automated inventory system.
  6. Receives all incoming supply and equipment items.
  7. Checks supply dated items and regularly rotates stock.
  8. Implements and maintains all facets of the automated inventory system.
  9. Conducts physical inventory of implants and inventory items in accordance with company policy.
  10. Performs other tasks and duties as assigned in an efficient, effective and cost conscious manner, complying with all company polices, procedures and regulations.
  11. Exhibits appropriate quality service behaviors in meeting and/or exceeding the needs of departmental customers, co-workers and others they encounter as representative of.
  12. Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 40 pounds.
  13. Appropriately uses Arizona Specialty Hospital revenues to improve or enhance service and patient care.

 This position performs other duties as requested by Administration.

Communicates the mission, ethics and goals of the facility, as well as the focus statement of the department.

Adheres to dress code, appearance is neat and clean.
