Medical Billing/Collections/Insurance Verifier at Gamma Surgery Center

Under the supervision of the Business Office Manager, the ideal candidate will work as a medical biller, collections and verify insurance benefits. 

Billing CollectionsThe Medical Billing Collections is responsible for follow up on delinquent surgery services claims, working an expected number of claims per day. Majority of claims will have been submitted to various insurance carriers electronically. Knowledge of how to interpret a managed care contract, Medicare and Medicaid and Workers Compensation claims is a must. Extensive contact with insurance carriers of all types, as well as communication with patients regarding out of pocket amounts is required. Identification of accounts that have been either under or over paid, issuing credit balance information either to the insurance carrier or the patient.

Insurance VerifierReview Patient information and procedure(s) being performed.Verify insurance benefits by reviewing patient benefits with payer via phone or on-line.Determine estimated amount. Enter all information onto the Insurance Verification Sheet. Contact patients regarding money due prior to date of surgery.Attempt to pre-collect from patient.Verify is pre-auth or precertification is needed and obtain.Reconcile each day to ensure you have verified all patients.Responsible for patient satisfaction daily as it relates to patient surveys and overall satisfaction with interactions.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • 1+ years of medical billing collections experience.
  • 1+ years of insurance verification experience.
  • CPT/HCPCS - ICD 10 knowledge.
  • Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, remittance advices, EOB’s, UB’s.
  • Medical terminology and computer experience.
  • Proficient computer software skills (Microsoft Office Products including Excel & Outlook).
  • Excellent communication skills.
