USPI Foundation Surgical Hospital of San Antonio is seeking a motivated Pharmacy Tech to join our team. We have 20 private suites and 5 OR rooms. We perform outpatient surgical procedures in Bariatric, Orthopedic, General, Neuro/Spine, ENT, Pain, Urology.

Job Summary: The Pharmacy Tech is under the supervision of a pharmacist, the pharmacy technician has the responsibility of fulfilling daily tasks such as filling automated dispensing cabinets, emergency boxes, and floor stock in a timely manner.  The pharmacy technician will also be responsible for managing inventory according to established budget, maintaining accurate records, completing charges for both the main facility and the outpatient, compounding sterile products, unit-dosing bulk products, and assisting in other clerical or patient care related activities as needed.  The pharmacy technician must demonstrate the ability to problem solve, show initiative, and build good relationships with organization team members. 

  • Provides customer care related activities, including and not limited to answering phones, emails, or in person requests within reason.
  • Maintains accurate record keeping for various pharmacy activities
  • Responsible for accurate unit-dose packaging, sterile compounding, and maintaining records according to USP standards
  • Fills automated dispensing cabinet according to department standard in each nursing care area and operating room suites according to set inventory PAR levels
  • Assists in managing inventory in the pharmacy, including but not limited to managing outdates and purchasing inventory to maintain patient care
  • Communicate needs to the pharmacist, co-worker and/or the Manager/Director of pharmacy as needed
  • Maintain knowledge of electronic health record and associated applications related to pharmacy.
  • Assist with initiation, development, maintenance and execution of rules and regulations pertaining to the profession and Pharmacy department needs
  • Develops a plan for process improvement on a yearly basis
  • Completing all competencies set forth by the department and the organization in a timely manner
  • Completes anesthesia reconciliation daily and communicates to the pharmacist or Manager/Director of pharmacy of outstanding issues.
  • Fulfills daily tasks in a timely manner
  • Assists in keeping all areas clean, neat, and orderly
  • Complete mathematical calculations as needed
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Required Skills:

Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent
Certified Pharmacy Technician registered with the state of Texas, required
PTCB Certified, required
BLS required
Graduate of accredited pharmacy technician training program preferred but not required
Minimum 2 years’ pharmacy technician in hospital setting
ACPE Sterile Product Preparation Certification preferred upon hire. Required within the first 90 days
Experience with Cerner and Pyxis preferred
Sterile Compounding experience preferred
