Responsibilities
At Memorial Hermann Surgery Center – The Woodlands, we are dedicated to providing high-quality outpatient surgical care in a safe, efficient, and patient-centered environment. As a proud member of United Surgical Partners International (USPI), we specialize in a range of surgical specialties and are committed to supporting our staff through teamwork, training, and growth opportunities.
Surgical Technologist / Scrub Tech at Memorial Hermann Surgery Center – The Woodlands
The Surgical Technologist scrubs for surgical procedures and demonstrates competence while functioning as a member of the surgical team. This position is responsible for maintaining a sterile field during surgical procedures and preparing supplies, instruments, and equipment as needed. The role supports the philosophy, objectives, and goals of the surgery center and actively participates in quality improvement efforts.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required
Completion of a Surgical Technician Program and/or equivalent combination of education and experience
Certification as required by the state of Texas and/or center policies
Previous experience in an ambulatory surgical center is strongly preferred
Strong knowledge of surgical procedures and management of the surgical patient
Thorough understanding of aseptic techniques and their application
Ability to quickly respond and adapt to changing patient conditions
Excellent teamwork and communication skills to collaborate with staff, support patients, and coordinate with physicians

Required Skills:
- Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT)
- Knowledge of operating room instrumentation
- Familiarity with medical terminology and departmental supply items
- Proficient in organizing and setting up operating room instrument trays
- Understands operation of steam/gravity sterilizers
Required Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- 2–3 years of experience as an Instrument Room Technician
- Hands-on experience with a variety of sterilizers (steam, gravity, and low-temperature systems)
