Patient Financial Counselor-Insurance Verifier
Sherman, Texas Heritage Park Surgical Hospital (12921)The Patient Financial Counselor will offer assistance to patients regarding medical bills. Will communicate with Insurance companies to verify insurance coverage.
Days for this position are Monday - Friday.
Job duties include:
- Communicating with patients and insurance companies on the phone
- Appropriately documenting and reporting payment information
- Educating patients about payment options and financial assistance
- Negotiating and strategizing patient payment arrangements
- Updating patient accounts and balances
- Reviewing and processing patient and insurance company forms
- Obtain authorizations
Required Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One year previous experience, or hospital/clerical experience preferred
- Basic Microsoft product knowledge (including Excel and Word)
- Must possess excellent customer service skills
- Must possess adequate math and computer skills
- Previous financial counseling experience preferred
- Previous benefits verification experience preferred
- Knowledge of Medical Insurance Benefits
- Prior Business Office experience preferred
- ICD10 and CPT knowledge is preferred
- Experience in collections preferred
