Welcome to Center for Special Surgery

Center for Special Surgery is an Ambulatory Surgery Center in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Ambulatory surgery centers (or outpatient surgery centers) are healthcare facilities where surgical procedures not requiring an overnight hospital stay are performed.

An orderly is a vital healthcare professional who assists nursing and medical staff by transporting patients, maintaining facility cleanliness, and managing medical supplies. They work under the direct supervision of registered nurses (RNs) and licensed practical nurses (LPNs) to ensure a safe, efficient, and comfortable environment for patients. 
Core Responsibilities
  • Patient Transport: Safely transfer and guide mobility-compromised patients between hospital wards, testing centers, operating theaters, and examination rooms using stretchers or wheelchairs.
  • Equipment Setup & Sanitation: Sanitize examination tables, hospital rooms, and medical equipment. Set up designated medical devices for patient care and procedures.
  • Basic Patient Care: Assist patients with daily living activities, including serving meals, changing bed linens, and turning or repositioning immobile patients.
  • Supply Inventory: Stock and organize patient rooms, nursing stations, and supply closets with necessary medical items.
  • Communication & Safety: Monitor patients for urgent needs, report equipment malfunctions to the appropriate staff, and adhere strictly to infection control protocols. 
Key Qualifications & Skills
  • Previous experience preferred.
  • Education: A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Physical Stamina: The ability to lift, push, pull heavy equipment, and assist patients with physical transfers.
