Job Summary
Directs, coordinates and controls the multi-disciplinary activities for patients in the Preadmission testing and Preoperative Departments. Responsible for the interpretation, direction and evaluation of nursing practice to promote safe, efficient and therapeutically effective nursing care in those areas. Demonstrates the primary goal of providing surgical services that exceed customer expectations and improve clinical and financial operations.

- Operational oversite and management of 7 employee Pre-admission testing department.
- Operational oversite and management of 6 employee Preop department
- Step into staffing to support clinical activities including coming in at 6:00am as needed.
- Ensure staffing is optimized based on patient care needs each day and flex down as needed.
- Hold staff accountable for following department policies/procedures as well as all regulatory requirements
- Set the example of expected professional behavior (no personal cell phones on duty, adherence to dress code, following code of conduct policy, etc..) and immediately correct staff who deviate.

Required Skills:
Qualifications
- Graduate of a professional school of Nursing.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
- Current license as a Registered Nurse in the state of Texas.
- Current certification in Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (preferred)
- At least two years of Hospital experience in the Preoperative setting.
- Two years supervisory experience is a plus.
- Proficient in IV insertion skills
- Good command of the English language, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work well with physicians, employees, patients and others.
- The knowledge, skills, and abilities of a Staff Nurse are required for this position.
