Memorial Hermann Surgery Center, Pinecroft is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Collector to join our business office team. The Collector plays a crucial role in ensuring timely and accurate collection of outstanding patient balances, insurance reimbursements, and resolving account discrepancies. This position requires strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining positive patient and payer relationships.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor and follow up on outstanding patient and insurance balances.
- Contact patients regarding outstanding balances, set up payment plans, and provide billing assistance.
- Work with insurance companies to resolve claim denials, underpayments, and payment discrepancies.
- Submit appeals and follow up on denied claims to maximize reimbursement.
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of all collection efforts and account resolutions.
- Collaborate with the billing team to ensure accurate claim submissions and timely payments.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and facility regulations, including HIPAA and insurance billing guidelines.
- Provide excellent customer service and maintain professionalism in patient and payer interactions.

Required Skills:
- Strong knowledge of medical billing, collections, and insurance reimbursement processes.
- Familiarity with payer policies, Explanation of Benefits (EOBs), and claims resolution strategies.
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) and billing software.
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and negotiation skills.
- Excellent communication skills with a patient-centered approach.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
Required Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Preferred: Associate’s degree in healthcare administration, business, or a related field.
- Minimum one (1) year of experience in medical collections, accounts receivable, or medical billing, preferably in an outpatient surgery center, hospital, or medical office setting.
