Overview
PACU RNs are an integral part of the surgical team, providing essential nursing care to patients during surgical cases. Their role requires a high level of accuracy and professionalism in a fast-paced surgical environment. PACU RNs are responsible for ensuring that patients receive the highest standard of care during surgery. Their ability to maintain a professional approach while providing nursing care is critical in ensuring positive patient outcomes while keeping patients and their families informed. Will work directly with surgeons, medical/surgical staff and post-acute caregivers to create comprehensive patient care from pre- to post-op. Memorial Hermann Surgery Center, The Woodlands, is a state-of-the-art outpatient surgery facility dedicated to providing high-quality, patient-centered care. As part of United Surgical Partners International (USPI), we are committed to excellence in surgical services and patient outcomes. Our team works collaboratively to create a safe, efficient, and compassionate environment for both patients and staff.
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated PACU Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team at Memorial Hermann Surgery Center, The Woodlands. The PACU RN is responsible for the post-anesthesia care of surgical patients, ensuring a smooth recovery process. This position requires strong clinical expertise, critical thinking skills, and a commitment to patient safety and comfort.
- Provide high-quality, post-anesthesia care to patients recovering from surgical procedures.
- Monitor vital signs, assess pain levels, and administer necessary medications as prescribed.
- Maintain continuous observation and assessment of patients’ conditions, responding quickly to any complications.
- Educate patients and families on post-operative care, including discharge instructions and medication management.
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care.
- Maintain accurate and thorough patient records in compliance with facility protocols.
- Adhere to infection control policies and ensure a sterile environment.
- Support and contribute to the facility’s Performance Improvement and Risk Management programs.
- Participate in facility meetings, training, and continuing education programs.

Required Experience:
- Active RN license in the state of Texas.
- Minimum of 1 year of PACU or critical care nursing experience required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications (American Heart Association).
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification preferred.
- Previous experience in an outpatient or ambulatory surgical center is a plus.
