Pre Op PACU RN FTs are responsible for ensuring that patients receive the highest standard of care during surgery. Responsibilities
Memorial Hermann Surgery Center Pinecroft, located in The Woodlands, Texas, is a leading outpatient surgical facility delivering safe, efficient, and patient-centered care across a variety of specialties. As a joint venture with United Surgical Partners International (USPI) and part of the Memorial Hermann Health System, our team is dedicated to clinical excellence and exceptional outcomes.
We are currently seeking a compassionate and team-oriented Full-time Pre-Op/PACU Registered Nurse to join our perioperative nursing staff. This RN will play a key role in ensuring patients are prepared for their procedures and safely recover post-operatively in a supportive and fast-paced environment.
What You’ll Do:
- Provide direct nursing care to patients in the Pre-Op and PACU areas
- Conduct thorough patient assessments and obtain pre-procedure documentation
- Start IVs, administer pre-operative medications, and monitor vital signs
- Educate patients and families on surgical procedures, recovery expectations, and discharge instructions
- Closely monitor patients in the post-anesthesia recovery phase, ensuring patient safety and comfort
- Document all care provided accurately and in a timely manner
- Communicate effectively with anesthesia providers, surgeons, and fellow nursing staff
- Maintain compliance with infection control and patient safety protocols
Required Skills:
- Excellent clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
- Strong IV start and medication administration proficiency
- Ability to stay calm and prioritize in high-paced environments
- Clear and compassionate communication with patients and interdisciplinary teams
- Competence in monitoring post-anesthesia patients for adverse reactions
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) and nursing documentation standards
- Solid understanding of HIPAA and patient confidentiality guidelines
Required Experience:
- Current RN license in the state of Texas, in good standing
- BLS and ACLS certifications required (PALS a plus)
- 1–2 years of experience in Pre-Op, PACU, or perioperative nursing preferred
- Previous experience in an ambulatory surgery center or outpatient setting is a plus
