Pre-Op Registered Nurse

As a joint venture with United Surgical Partners International (USPI) and part of the Memorial Hermann Health System, we specialize in a wide range of procedures with a strong commitment to safety, efficiency, and excellence.
We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Per-Diem Pre-Op Registered Nurse to join our team. The ideal candidate is compassionate, detail-oriented, and skilled in preparing patients for surgical procedures in a supportive, fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide attentive and efficient care to patients in the pre-operative phase
- Conduct comprehensive pre-op assessments, including patient history, medications, and allergies
- Initiate IVs, administer medications, and ensure accurate pre-op documentation
- Reinforce pre-operative instructions and provide emotional support to patients and families
- Communicate effectively with anesthesia providers, surgeons, and fellow RNs to ensure coordinated patient care
- Maintain compliance with infection control, medication safety, and patient safety standards
- Ensure all necessary pre-op documentation and consents are completed before surgery
- Monitor and respond to any changes in patient condition prior to surgery
Qualifications
- Current RN license in the State of Texas (or compact state)
- BLS and ACLS certification required (PALS preferred)
- Minimum of 1–2 years of Pre-Op or PACU experience in an ASC or hospital setting preferred
- Excellent communication, assessment, and IV skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team

Required Skills:
- Strong pre-operative assessment and patient education skills
- Proficient in IV insertion, medication administration, and vital sign monitoring
- Skilled in anticipating patient and provider needs in a busy surgical setting
- Excellent communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to stay organized and calm under pressure
Required Experience:
- 1–2 years of clinical RN experience in pre-op, PACU, or perioperative services (ASC or hospital setting preferred)
- Demonstrated ability to provide patient-centered care and maintain high clinical standards
- Experience collaborating within a multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless patient care
