Overview
PreOp RNs are an integral part of the surgical team, providing essential nursing care to patients during surgical cases. Their role requires a high level of accuracy and professionalism in a fast-paced surgical environment. PreOp RNs are responsible for ensuring that patients receive the highest standard of care during surgery. Their ability to maintain a professional approach while providing nursing care is critical in ensuring positive patient outcomes while keeping patients and their families informed. Will work directly with surgeons, medical/surgical staff and post-acute caregivers to create comprehensive patient care from pre- to post-op. Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Pre-Op Registered Nurse to join our surgical team. This role is responsible for preparing patients for surgery, assessing their health status, and ensuring they are ready for their procedure. The ideal candidate will have excellent clinical skills, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to providing outstanding patient care.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough pre-operative assessments, including reviewing medical history and verifying surgical consent forms.
- Monitor vital signs, administer medications as needed, and ensure patients are stable before surgery.
- Provide clear instructions and emotional support to patients and families regarding pre-operative and post-operative care.
- Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure smooth transitions of care.
- Maintain strict infection control and patient safety standards.
- Document patient information accurately in the electronic medical records (EMR) system.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and facility guidelines.
- Assist with other nursing duties as needed to support the surgical team.
Required Skills:
- Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of pre-operative care protocols and best practices.
- Ability to provide compassionate care and reassurance to patients.

Required Experience:
- Active and unrestricted RN license in the state of Texas.
- Minimum of one (1) year of nursing experience in a pre-op, PACU, or critical care setting preferred.
- Current American Heart Association BLS certification required (ACLS preferred).
- Experience in an outpatient surgery center or hospital setting is a plus.
