Memorial Hermann Surgery Center Pinecroft is a multi-specialty ambulatory surgery center located in The Woodlands, Texas. We are currently looking for a full-time Surgical Scrub Technician to join our team.

As a Surgical Scrub Tech, you will play a vital role in the operating room by anticipating the needs of the surgical team and ensuring procedures run smoothly. You will be responsible for establishing and maintaining a sterile field, preparing and passing instruments, supplies, and equipment, and upholding strict infection control and aseptic techniques. Working closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nurses, you will help create a safe and efficient surgical environment while supporting positive outcomes for every patient.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensures sterility of all supplies and instruments during setup of surgical procedures.
  • Assists circulating nurse and surgical team in maintaining sterile environment.
  • Assists circulating nurse in gathering necessary surgical supplies and equipment.
  • Performs sponge, needle, and instrument counts with circulating nurse pre- and intra-operatively.
  • Gowns and gloves surgeons and assistants.
  • Assists in keeping physician preference cards accurate and up to date.
  • Retains and properly labels all specimens for pathology, confirming source and identity with surgeon.
  • Transports surgical equipment to appropriate cleaning areas and assists sterile supply with cleaning and reprocessing of instrument sets.
  • Uses Standard Universal Precautions, proper hand hygiene, personal protective equipment, and safe practices to ensure personal and patient safety.
  • Assists with environmental hazard and infection control surveillance and participates in emergency preparedness drills.
  • Follows all equipment and safety guidelines and demonstrates knowledgeable use and care of equipment.
  • Serves as a resource to other members of the healthcare team.
  • Attends in-services, meetings, and training sessions as required.
  • Maintains current certifications such as CPR, as offered by the center.
  • Communicates effectively and courteously with patients, physicians, visitors, and staff while maintaining privacy and confidentiality.
  • Acts in accordance with the vision, mission, and business philosophy of the Center.
  • Complies with all Policies and Procedures and adheres to safety guidelines to ensure a safe work and patient care environment.

Required Skills:
  • Knowledge of surgical procedures, sterile technique, and infection control practices
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to anticipate the needs of surgeons and operating room staff
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on patient safety
  • Proficiency in handling, cleaning, and maintaining surgical instruments and equipment

Required Experience:
  • Previous experience as a Surgical Scrub Technician or Operating Room Tech preferred
  • Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred but not required (depending on state/center requirements)
  • Experience in an ambulatory surgery center or hospital setting a plus
  • Current CPR certification (or ability to obtain prior to start) required
