We are currently looking for a per-diem (PRN) GI Technician to join our team.

As a GI Tech, you will play an important role in supporting our gastroenterology team during endoscopic procedures. You’ll be responsible for preparing procedure rooms, ensuring equipment is functioning properly, assisting physicians and nurses during cases, and maintaining a clean, safe, and sterile environment. Your role directly supports the delivery of safe, efficient, and compassionate care to every patient.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepares endoscopy rooms for procedures by ensuring proper supplies and equipment are available and functioning.
  • Assists physicians and nurses during GI/endoscopic procedures, anticipating needs and providing instruments and supplies as required.
  • Ensures proper cleaning, high-level disinfection, and/or sterilization of endoscopes and related equipment according to infection control standards.
  • Monitors and maintains endoscopy equipment, reporting any malfunctions or needed repairs.
  • Adheres to infection control, safety, and universal precautions in all aspects of patient care and equipment handling.
  • Assists with specimen collection, labeling, and verification in collaboration with the physician and nursing staff.
  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date physician preference cards and supply inventories.
  • Ensures all scopes and accessories are properly processed, stored, and readily available for use.
  • Transports scopes and instruments to and from reprocessing areas, assisting with cleaning and reassembly as needed.
  • Participates in emergency preparedness drills and responds appropriately in urgent situations.
  • Interacts respectfully and effectively with patients, physicians, nurses, and staff of all backgrounds.
  • Communicates courteously and maintains patient, physician, and staff confidentiality per policy.
  • Attends in-services, meetings, and training sessions as required.
  • Maintains current certifications such as CPR, as offered by the center.
  • Acts in accordance with the vision, mission, and business philosophy of the Center.
  • Complies with Policies and Procedures, and adheres to safety guidelines to ensure a safe work and patient care environment.

Required Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of GI/endoscopic procedures and equipment
  • Proficiency in scope cleaning, high-level disinfection, and sterilization practices
  • Attention to detail in maintaining sterile fields and ensuring patient safety
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills with physicians, nurses, and staff
  • Ability to anticipate procedural needs and remain calm in urgent situations
  • Commitment to infection control and patient confidentiality standards

Required Experience:
  • Previous experience as a GI Tech, Endoscopy Tech, or similar role preferred
  • Experience with endoscope reprocessing and related equipment required
  • Ambulatory surgery center or hospital endoscopy experience a plus
  • Current CPR certification (or ability to obtain prior to start) required
