Medical Records Clerk at Kimel Park Surgery

Medical Records Coordinator is responsible for assessing and auditing all patient charts for completeness of all documentation and paperwork detailing the services provided by the surgery center and its staff.

Responsibilities

  • Receives patient charts daily and alphabetizes to ready for audit
  • Receives operative, laboratory and pathology reports for scanning into chart
  • Handles research for locating incomplete chart forms
  • Operative reports
  • Lab results
  • Coordinates with surgeon’s offices to obtain any missing data
  • Files charts into filing cabinets
  • Satisfies requests for medical records
  • Reporting of any incident - Incidents must be reported immediately following an event which meets the above-mentioned reporting definition. The administrator must be notified and an incident report completed immediately if the event results in serious injury or death. All other incident reports must be completed within 24 hours of the occurrence.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1-2 years of hospital or medical records experience required.
  • Knowledge of The Joint Commission Standards
  • Ability to use time wisely in preparing work area to meet high-paced demand.
  • Show a genuine desire to work and improve the center as a whole.
  • Must be detail oriented.
  • Must be able to communicate verbally and non-verbally in a professional manner.
  • Must be able to adhere to hospital financial and admitting policies.
  • Ability to promote positive relationships with patients and staff.
  • Must know insurance verification and collection processes.
  • Must have problem solving and decision making skills.
  • Professional appearance.
  • Must demonstrate excellent phone etiquette and exceptional customer service skills.
