Facilities Maintenance at Surgical Institute of Reading
To perform skilled maintenance work on heating, air conditioning and mechanical equipment and general facility to include overall reporting of inspections, ensuring resolution of deficiencies, and to ensure the building is within in Life Safety code to ensure the safety of patients and personnel.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
The following description of the job responsibilities and performance expectations are intended to reflect the primary responsibilities of the job, but are not intended to describe all duties other responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time.
- Operates and maintains boilers, water heaters, pumps, air conditioners, and diesel generators.
- Performs monthly electrical inspections not requiring a certification specification such as testing of ground systems, general transfer switches, electrical equipment cords, and preventative maintenance on machines while following safety guidelines.
- Inspects, tests, checks and performs preventative maintenance on assigned equipment, logging findings.
- Maintains cleanliness of areas containing mechanical equipment.
- Sustains adequate medical gas supply, checking levels daily.
- Paints areas of facility as needed.
- Performs minor carpentry functions.
- Receives and stores heavy supplies.
- Performs snow removal functions, if applicable.
- Checks for fire extinguisher outdates.
- Performs monthly check of the nurse call system and emergency exit lights.
- Maintains the facility environmental log books and provides monthly inspection reports to Safety Officer. Reports any areas needing correction.
- Issues requests to Facility Director for supply items needed to maintain the physical premises of the facility.
- Adheres to the facility Safety Policies.
o Reports observed or suspected safety violations, hazards and policy and procedure noncompliance to the Safety Officer or other designated person.
o Observes safety measures in performance of job functions and responsibilities.
- Assists staff personnel in the transport of patients to and from the operating room to recovery room or overnight rooms when needed.
- Maintains environment according to housekeeping and infection control policies and procedures.
o Follows housekeeping guidelines as to responsibility and frequency of surfaces to be cleaned.
o Reports any damaged equipment discovered during routine cleaning.
- Follows policy and procedure in handling of hazardous waste.
- Uses cleaning agents and equipment according to safety, manufacturer and Facility standards.
- Monitors effectiveness of pest control service.
Qualifications:
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in electrical, mechanical systems operation and function.
