Licensed Practical Nurse Pre-Call Coordinator at Surgical Institute of Reading
Under the supervision of the DON or Surgical Coordinator, organizes and implements Pre Calls in a timely and efficient manner to facilitate the flow of patient information to appropriate departments
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- The following description of the job responsibilities and performance expectations are intended to reflect the primary responsibilities of the job, but are not intended to describe all duties other responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time.
- Performs required clerical work relating to Pre Calls.
- Keeps medical record complete and in order and ensures all parts of the medical record are properly identified by patient label.
- Enters all pre call information accurately into the computer
- Enters patient medications into computer with accuracy
- Keeps unit supplied with all necessary stationary and other supplies at all times.
- Maintains economical utilization of supplies/equipment and orders supplies as necessary with cost awareness.
- Assists assembling charts when needed.
- Responds to patient and inquiries/comments, referring to appropriate personnel as indicated.Brings unusual patient information (i.e.; BMI, Medications, Requests etc.) to the attention of DON, Supervisor and other staff as necessary.
- Maintains a professional demeanor when talking to patients.
- Provides pertinent information to the patient concerning their surgery according to policy and procedure.
- Communicates openly with the scheduling department.
- Will perform any other duties requested by supervisors.
Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Knowledge of medical terminology preferred (LPN)
- Previous experience working in a hospital setting required
